American Standard Circuits, a leading PCB solutions expert, has announced that the company has acquired a new 8 camera post etch punch from C.A. Picard. The new VIP-25 is the final piece in a plan to establish the highest front-end registration capabilities possible.
Providing the most accurate registration precision possible, this post etch punch avoids the tolerance errors that occur when punching is done prior to etching. Layer to layer registration becomes much more accurate, thus greatly improving multilayer productivity and yields.
In addition, this post tech punch allows the user to view the etch target placed on the board in relation to the image and subsequently split the difference of any error and punch the tooling hole locations. Image registration is greatly improved because the punch locations are placed in relation to the image.
With the VIP-25, expansion and contraction error can now be compensated for prior to lamination. This is possible because most of the material expansion and contraction has already occurred during the previous develop-etch-strip phase.
