The Cerno 508.1 from Nordson Corporation is a Selective Soldering Machine that can operate on PCBs measuring from 50 x 50 mm to 508 x 508 mm (thickness of 15.2 mm). It has an adjustable solder pot capacity ranging between 1 and 12 Kg, and the solder can be heated up to 320°C. A bottom and edge clearance of 40 mm and 3 mm, respectively, maintain easy movement of the spray nozzle. It combines fluxing, preheating, and soldering for easy integration into batch or in-line processes. This machine is available in two versions: the Cerno 508.1 S and the Cerno 508.1 Two-Segment. The Cerno 508.1 S provides single-board processing with a single drop-jet fluxer and solder pot while the Cerno 508.1 Two-Segment simultaneously solders two singulated boards in-line with a single drop-jet fluxer and two solder pots, without panelization, palletization, or special tooling.
The Cerno 508.1 enables cost-effective processing of demanding double-sided, through-hole surface mount (SMT), through-hole selective, and mini-wave soldering applications. It supports run through-hole and SMT mixed-technology soldering applications with multiple solder alloys and without changing solder pots. This machine allows easy tool-free maintenance with full titanium solder pots compatible with all solder alloys. It requires an air pressure from 6 to 8 bars to operate which is consumed at a rate of 150 m³/hour. The N2 gas used to heat the solder is consumed at a rate of 1.3 m³/hour and exhausted at a pressure between 4 to 6 bars. It is available in an enclosure that measures 1700 x 1700 mm and requires a 3-phase AC supply.
