Yamaha Robotics has introduced an advanced setup assistance tool for surface-mount printers designed to improve productivity by optimizing printer settings and accelerating new product introduction (NPI) processes.
The new tool, Print Param Decision Assist, automatically analyzes the board file when it is loaded and calculates optimal printing parameters while also troubleshooting existing settings. By evaluating factors such as board dimensions, component types, solder-paste type, stencil thickness, and critical aperture dimensions, the system generates recommended parameters including system pressure, printing speed, squeegee angle, and cleaning frequency.
The tool features a graphical user interface that allows operators to review recommended settings and adjust them as needed.
“We are giving customers a resident printing expert ready to support every NPI with time-saving assistance, recommendations, and double-checking,” said Shuichi Imai, Sales General Manager for Europe, Yamaha Robotics SMT Section. “Operators of all experience levels, whether seasoned in surface-mount production or recently integrated into the team, can now get instant access to process know-how and find right-first-time assurance when working with Yamaha printers.”
Print Param Decision Assist is included in the latest release of YSUP-PG, the machine programming environment within Yamaha’s YSUP intelligent factory software platform. The feature is designed to accelerate process optimization and reduce configuration errors during NPI.
The release expands the set of automated tools within the YSUP environment intended to improve manufacturing efficiency and increase production yield. These tools include enhancements to the Visual Data Editor and the AutoTeach component placement feature, which helps speed up product changeovers.
YSUP serves as the central software environment for assembly management with Yamaha SMT equipment, supporting functions such as programming, production scheduling at line and factory levels, real-time production monitoring, traceability, and integration with enterprise planning systems.
