Altus Group Offers Next-Generation Dual-Lane Vapour Phase Reflow System to Meet High-Throughput PCBA Demands712370

Altus Group, a distributor of electronic production solutions including SMT assembly, THT assembly, back-end processes, component management, and consumables, is now offering the ASSCON VP 2200 vapour phase reflow system, the first dual-lane inline vapour phase (VP) unit available in the region.

Designed to meet the rising demand for high-throughput, thermally challenging PCBAs in military, medical, and industrial sectors, the VP 2200 delivers faster processing, greater flexibility, and lower maintenance costs. The system builds on the success of the ASSCON VP 2100, launched in 2021.

Developed as a single, versatile platform, the VP 2200 combines speed, flexibility, and performance while keeping costs under control. It can be configured in single-lane or dual-lane mode, with or without vacuum, effectively replacing four previous inline systems with one fully retrofittable solution. With upgrade paths and retrofit options, the system is designed to evolve with customer requirements.

Joe Booth, CEO of Altus Group, commented: “ASSCON is a prime example of a supplier focused on customer value and long-term vision. By concentrating on a single process, they are driving the technology further than ever before. They are already a leading brand, and this level of R&D investment will only strengthen their position.”

“Vapour phase reflow is extremely popular in the UK and Ireland due to the complex, high-tech PCBAs we specialize in, particularly within military, industrial, and medical markets, all of which are experiencing strong growth. For many applications, higher throughput is critical, and the VP 2200’s dual-lane mode effectively doubles previous capabilities, offering a significant advantage. I look forward to seeing the unit showcased at Productronica, where ASSCON will officially launch the platform.”

In dual-lane mode, the VP 2200 accepts boards from single-lane upstream production and uses a modular shuttle to double throughput—making it the first vapour phase system of its kind. Maintenance is simplified with standardized spare parts, easily accessible components, and reduced service requirements.

The VP 2200 also features ASSCON’s permanent filter system, which cuts GALDEN filter change time by 90%. Located within the cooling zone and designed without housing, the filters maintain full effectiveness with half the number of parts. Enhanced flux management further improves operational uptime. Meanwhile, the software platform and HMI provide a consistent, intuitive operating and programming experience across both batch and inline systems.

Tobias Tuffentsammer, Head of Sales at ASSCON, added: “Innovation is essential to remaining at the forefront of vapour phase technology and increasing our presence in the broader reflow market. Customers are highly satisfied with vapour phase solutions but face mounting pressure to manage higher volumes, which demand shorter tact times.

“This new platform transforms throughput capacity while simplifying our processes and offering clear benefits to both ASSCON and our customers. Through economies of scale, we are able to deliver this innovation at a competitive price point, maximizing customer ROI.”
