ASC Sunstone Circuits Adds In-House Via Fill Capability to Speed Complex PCB Builds712370

ASC Sunstone Circuits announced a significant enhancement to its Oregon manufacturing facility with the addition of a high-precision via fill machine. As part of a strategic initiative to align manufacturing capabilities across the organization, the equipment has been transitioned from parent company American Standard Circuits to the ASC Sunstone facility in Mulino, Oregon. The equipment transfer reflects increased operational integration between the two facilities and provides ASC Sunstone customers with faster access to advanced PCB fabrication processes that were previously unavailable at the Oregon site.

Streamlining Complex PCB Fabrication

The addition of dedicated via fill equipment enables ASC Sunstone to support complex PCB design requirements, including both conductive and non-conductive via fill, entirely in-house. According to the company, this enhancement is expected to deliver several operational benefits.

  • Reduced Lead Times: By bringing via fill capabilities directly into the Oregon facility, ASC Sunstone reduces lead times by eliminating the need to transfer boards between facilities or outsource specialized processes. This localized control helps maintain quick-turn delivery schedules for complex commercial PCB designs.
  • Enhanced Reliability: The in-house via fill process also improves product reliability by allowing full quality control over boards that require flat surfaces for component mounting, such as via-in-pad designs. Managing this process at a single site reduces handling complexity and supports consistent structural integrity and optimized assembly surfaces.
  • Support for Advanced Commercial Designs: This equipment supports advanced commercial PCB designs requiring tighter pitch layouts and improved thermal management. With these capabilities now available locally, ASC Sunstone can provide a more efficient path for domestic prototyping and production of sophisticated PCB assemblies.

A Unified Manufacturing Strategy

"Since joining forces with American Standard Circuits, our goal has been to provide the best of both worlds: ASC’s vast technical resources and Sunstone’s legendary speed and ease of use," said Mathew Stevenson, VP & General Manager at ASC Sunstone Circuits. "Moving this via fill capability to Oregon is a perfect example of that synergy. We are literally putting the tools for complex engineering directly into the hands of our quick-turn customers."
