Flux, which develops a PCB design automation platform, has raised $37 million in funding. SiliconANGLE reported on Feb. 28 that the investment includes a Series B round led by 8VC and a $10 million seed round joined by Outsiders Fund and Bain Capital Ventures.

A PCB is a flat board that connects electronic components and is used for a range of purposes, from computer processors to sensors and keyboards. Flux's AI platform provides PCB designs, component recommendations and ways to cut costs when users enter the functions they want.

Flux also supports firmware development in addition to PCB design. The company stated that developers previously needed a deep understanding of PCB hardware characteristics, but the platform automates this and improves development speed.

The platform uses AI to support firmware compatibility testing and code generation and helps non-experts design PCBs.

Flux plans to use the funds to strengthen its AI engineering capabilities and expand integration with external PCB simulation tools and parts databases. Chief Executive Matthias Wagner said, "Traditional hardware development was very complex, but we are lowering design costs to near zero so anyone can easily develop PCBs."
