TYRI has opened a new in-house circuit board manufacturing facility in Kungsbacka, south of Gothenburg, marking a significant step in strengthening both product quality and sustainability across its operations.
The new factory makes TYRI self-sufficient in circuit board production for all lighting products manufactured at its facilities in Sweden, the UK, and the United States. Previously, circuit boards were sourced from an external supplier in Poland. By bringing production in-house, TYRI gains full control over quality, production processes, and sustainability performance.
According to the company, the move aligns with its core sustainability philosophy that higher product quality directly supports lower environmental impact. By producing long-lasting, energy-efficient lighting products, TYRI aims to reduce resource use and emissions throughout the product lifecycle.
The Kungsbacka facility is equipped with advanced manufacturing and process-monitoring systems designed to detect and address defects early in production. This reduces waste, minimizes rework, and prevents faulty circuit boards from reaching final assembly.

“Identifying and addressing potential defects immediately, instead of discovering them during the final inspection, benefits our entire sustainability effort and contributes to our ‘Zero Defect’ goal. This means eliminating all errors during production, thereby maximizing quality and sustainability,” explains Per-Johan Edgren, Production Manager for TYRI’s circuit board operations in Kungsbacka.
In addition to improved process control, TYRI says the new factory enables greater oversight of working conditions and operational standards.
“Owning our factory gives us total control over the entire operation,” said Jimmy Nordén, Factory Manager at TYRI. “This allows us to ensure that our high standards are met at every stage, not only in product quality but also in providing safe and fair working conditions.”
The shift from external production in Poland to in-house manufacturing in Sweden has also shortened transport routes between TYRI facilities, contributing to lower emissions. The Kungsbacka factory operates on 100% fossil-free electricity, consistent with TYRI’s other Swedish operations.
The company says the new facility represents the next step in its long-term sustainability strategy, combining local production, renewable energy use, and high-quality manufacturing to support more sustainable lighting solutions globally.
