Principal Mineral Acquires Isola to Expand PCB Materials Supply Chain712370

Principal Mineral announced the acquisition of Isola, a global manufacturer of copper-clad laminates and dielectric prepregs used in the production of printed circuit boards (PCBs). The transaction expands Principal Mineral's role as a vertically integrated upstream global supply chain for PCBs while strengthening supply chain security and resilience for advanced-technology applications in critical industries.

Founded in 1912, Isola brings more than a century of experience in insulation and PCB materials, along with manufacturing, R&D, technical support, and a multi-national sales operation.

Acquiring Isola is a step in advancing Principal Mineral's mission of rebuilding the industrial "missing midstream" — the layer between upstream metals production and the finished technologies that underpin applications in aerospace, manufacturing, communications, computing, defense, and other technology markets.

In 2025, Principal Mineral acquired and relaunched Camden Copper in Camden, South Carolina, saving local jobs and preserving a U.S. copper foil plant that supplies defense-grade copper foil for printed circuit boards used in defense and technology systems. With the addition of Isola, Principal Mineral adds a global portfolio of PCB materials and platforms in high-Tg, lead-free compatible, and low-loss applications.

The combined organization will employ approximately 1,300 people and operate 10 facilities globally, spanning manufacturing, research and development, technical support, and commercial sales.
